Lake Area Signs was started in 1983 by Danny McKinney as a full time venture. The business was built on the lost art of hand painting signs, billboards, and vehicle lettering. We were also involved in the painting of logos and lettering on large industrial ground storage tanks during this time.

In 1992 we made purchases in the computerized sign making sector of the industry. At that time we were able to provide hand painted signs, and mostly single color vinyl designs. As technology progressed we have stayed at the top of our industry. In 1995 we began to service the water tower industry with state of the art paper patterns and the custom painting of logos in many parts of the nation. In 1997 we purchased our first thermal transfer vinyl color printer, this allowed us the opportunity to greatly increase the multicolor vinyl offerings from our company.

In 2005 we stepped into the full color solvent print market, including large format graphics, with the protection of a clear over laminate. This has paved the way for us to do full color designs on vehicles of all sizes, signs, banners, and multiple other types of signage. In 2007 we became Lake Area Sign Co., LLC.
